What You May Have Missed - E3 2014

With over a week since E3, it seems as though a distant memory. There was a lot announced and shown, covering a vast array of games. Though, with all of this, you may have missed something. Below are all the major announcements of the Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Sony, and Nintendo E3 briefings. Just click to read more. I thoroughly enjoyed this E3 compared to last; it added newer games while displaying games that we already knew about. They were definitely are focusing on the Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 which will push the boundaries of  the new graphics.

Splatoon Announced - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

A new game called Splatoon was revealed during the Nintendo E3 conference. An 8 player multiplayer game, with two teams of 4. The objective is for a team to capture the most territory within the map. To do this, they must capture territory by shooting ink, and the team with the most ink on the map in the end wins. The gameplay mechanic that brings a different view is the ability to switch between a human and a squid. The kicker is that players can only shoot ink as a person. But as a squid, you move quickly within your color. However, you walk slower in the enemy team’s ink.

The Wii U Game pad provides an overhead view, and updates the map and ink in real time. With the ability to also teleport to your own teammates.

The developers described the ink as both offensive and defensive.

Mario Maker Announced - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

A brand new game was also announced. An editable Mario level editor. Called Mario Maker, though the title is pending. Available for the Wii U which will utilize the Gamepad. It will allow players to full customize every part of a level. With the ability to switch between Super Mario Bros. (NES) and New Super Mario Bros (Wii U) for different views.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

Xenoblade Chronicles X was also announced. With new things like riding and controlling a weaponized mech. Players can also improve in different classes, while learning new combat and defensive skills. Players can also customize everything about the main character's appearance

Kirby for Wii U - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

The Next Kirby game was also announced. Titled Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. You will go through the world, using the game pad to create paths or shields. Kirby will be able to transform to submarines, rockets, or tanks

Hyrule Warriors - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

Hyrule Warriors was also shown at the conference. A combination of the essence of The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors. The players versus hordes of enemies. It will have a 2 player mode and players can play as a variety of characters, such as Zelda, Link, Impa, or Midna.

It is set for release on September 26, 2014 for the Wii U.

Bayonetta 2 Announced - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

Bayonetta 2 was also announced during the Nintendo conference. Along with a gameplay trailer. Now with newer weapons, and even a Co-Op mode

It was also announced that Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 will come in a double pack for Wii U, so you can get both games at once if you choose.

Pokemon 'Omega Ruby' & 'Alpha Sapphire' Announced - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

The Legend Of Zelda for Wii U - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

The Legend of Zelda for Wii U was also teased. Showing off the newly open world style. It is now bigger than before, colorful with brand new graphics. Now there is no more of a set path. We also saw our first look at the gameplay which showcased Link riding a horse escaping an enemy, only to soon fight it

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker Announced - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

Nintendo also announce a new game for the Wii U called Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. Players will now play as toad where you have to traverse a 3D space with a 2D view (ala Fez). By twisting the camera to reveal hidden locations and other secrets. The Wii U Gamepad offers a closer view, and its gyro controls can also be used to peer around corners.

No release date was said other than it is coming soon.

Yoshi's Wooly World Announced - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

Nintendo also began talking about another new game called Yoshi’s Wooly World. A Yarn stylized game, similarly different than Kirby’s Epic Yarn. Gameplay was shown and the developers emphasized that compared to a typical Mario game, it will have some options for exploration.

It will have a two player mode for cooperative play such as the ability for one to swallow the other to fire at the enemy.

It is coming 2015 for the Wii U

Nintendo Introduces Amiibo - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

Nintendo also introduced what they are calling Amiibo. Like Disney Infinity or Skylanders, figures can be used to expand on the game. Super Smash Bros for Wii U will be the first game to use this, but will be available for other games. Currently the are preparing it for Mario kart 8

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS - E3 2014 (Nintendo)

Begging the Nintendo E3 press conference, they began it with a fight between Reggie Fils-Aime and Satoru Iwata which transferred to Super Smash Bros for Wii U. By transitioning to gameplay playing as Mii’s. Then transitioning to place a figure on the game pad to be played as

It was soon expanded on that you can now play as a Mii Fighter. Each with 3 different play styles. The Mii Brawler who focuses on close combat with fists. The Mii Swordfighter who focuses on weapons such as swords. And finally the Wii Gunner who focuses on longer range fighting, using guns. This leads to the player to choose 4 special moves from 12 specials for 36 possible combinations. Players will also have the option to bring in other Mii characters. Such as Elijah Wood or Ice T.

The game is set for Holiday 2014

There was also an update on Smash Bros for the 3ds as it is the first handheld Smash Bros game.

Towards the end of the conference, a new playable character for Super Smash Bros was also introduced. Through an animated trailer, we see the introduction of Palutena from the game Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Uncharted 4 A Thief's End Announced - E3 2014 (Sony)

The last thing that was shown during the E3 Sony Conference was a Naughty Dog game, which leaded to the crowd roaring with excitement.

The trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which was captured directly from a PlayStation 4.

We hear a voice over conversation between Nathan Drake and Sully, talking about one last job, and the people they are dealing with shouldn’t be messed with. We hear Nathan Drake asking Sully whether he can cunt on him one last time.

We see Nathan Drake washed up on a shore, only to get up to grab a loaded gun and enter a jungle. As we see skeletons hanging in the distant in cages.

Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End is set for release in 2015, on PlayStation 4.

Batman Arkham Knight Gameplay - E3 2014 (Sony)

The Sony E3 Conference held gameplay footage of Rocksteady and Warner Brothers next game Batman Arkham Knight.

In the gameplay trailer, we see up close the new Batsuit. The mission is to reach the Penguin. Right off the bat (pun intended), we see the new visuals of the city of Gotham

The gameplay also showcased Batman gliding quickly throughout the city, and the ability to call the Batmobile and drive through the city. It changes to attack mode, which allows the user to shoot enemy tanks that may stand in your way.

The Batmobile also allows Batman to quickly eject in order to gain altitude. A brand new move was also shown, called the Fear Takedown, it allows batman to quickly takedown multiply enemies before they even have chance to react.

After reaching the penguin, Batman takes him down, however it glitches, only to turn towards The Scarecrow; which is very reminiscent toward Batman Arkham Asylum.

The Scarecrow says “How many more bones would you crush? How many lives will you destroy in pursuit of what you call justice? You [batman] are the product of everything you fear. Violence, darkness, helplessness. All that remains is for you to watch as I drag your beloved Gotham into oblivion.”

If purchased for PlayStation 4, it will come with a bonus Scarecrow Nightmare Mission exclusively to the PlayStation 4.

Batman Arkham Knight will arrive to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2015.

Grand Theft Auto V Coming to PlayStation 4 & Xbox One - E3 2014 (Sony)

Grand Theft Auto V, the massive successful game from Rockstar, was revealed that it will now be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Announced during the PlayStation 4 E3 Conference, it will include all new updated graphics

A trailer was also shown which you can view here, which was captured on a PlayStation 4.

The game is set for Fall 2014

People who already own Grand Theft Auto V, don’t need to worry about their online characters, the current community will be able to transfer their online characters to the new generation of consoles.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Trailer - E3 2014 (Sony)

A new trailer for the next Konami game/Kojima productions Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was shown during the E3 Sony Conference. Running on the Fox engine, the trailer was directed and edited by Hideo Kojima. Along with the following credits.

The Last Of Us Remastered Trailer - E3 2014 (Sony)

The massively successful Naughty Dog game The Last Of Us is set to arrive to the PlayStation 4 with The Last Of Us Remastered. It was highlighted during the Sony E3 Conference with a trailer that showcased the upgraded graphics.

We also received a release date, and is set to arrive July 29, 2014. It will include the game and all DLC multiplayer maps and Left Behind single player campaign.

Ratchet & Clank Movie Trailer - E3 2014 (Sony)

The PlayStation 4 E3 Conference also provided fans of the Ratchet & Clank franchise another look at the upcoming movie with a trailer.

We see Ratchet, Clank, and Quark, with the things that make Ratchet & Clank, well, Ratchet & Clank; gadgets, weapons, spaceships, and beautiful planets

They also reconfirmed that Insomniac Games is heavily involved so that the movie keeps close to the original games and what made them special.

It was also announced that they are in the process of remaking Ratchet & Clank for PlayStation 4 with brand new visuals.

Powers TV show coming to PlayStation - E3 2014 (Sony)

The PlayStation E3 Conference also announced the first original series coming to the PlayStation Network; Powers, based on graphic novel series of the same name created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming. About two homicide detectives who deal with cases involving powers.

Brian Michael Bendis (Powers Co-Creator & Executive Producer) got up on stage to talk about it. Announcing that it was green lit by Sony to the PlayStation Network.

Bendis also said that announcements and teases to come during the summer, is currently in production.

Powers will arrive in December and every PlayStation user will get to watch first episode for free. However if you are a PlayStation Plus user, you will be available to view entire series for free.

Mortal Kombat X Gameplay - E3 2014 (Sony)

Coming off from the PlayStation updates, Shawn Layden (President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America) gave background on his career for Sony, of porting games from America and Europe markets and making them available for the Japanese market. He spoke of how one of the first titles they ported was Mortal Kombat 3. Which is why it is a huge honor to show the worldwide premier of gameplay footage from Mortal Kombat X.

The gameplay trailer showed two separate fights between Sub-Zero vs. Scorpion and D'Vorah vs. Ferra/Torr. It allowed our view of new and returning moves, new locations, and brand new graphics. Ending with the question “Who’s Next?”

PS Network, PS Vita, PS Now, & PS TV - E3 2014 (Sony)

During the Sony E3 Conference, a segment by Shawn Layden – President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America provided us an update all things PlayStation that wasn't games.

He talked about the ongoing success of PlayStation Network and ShareFactory. He announced that they are now bringing YouTube to the PlayStation Network later this year which will allow quicker uploads to your gaming channel. Along by giving details on Playroom, a free application that would allow users to better personalize the content they make.

Also showcasing more Free to Play games coming later this year through a trailer which you can view here

PlayStation now was also announced will be available July 31 as an open beta in us and Canada on PlayStation 4 and will soon be available for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Along with later this year, it will add PlayStation Now to Sony smart Televisions.

Layden also announced PLAYSTATION TV. A device that when paired with PlayStation 4, it will allow users to play their PlayStation 4 via remote play on a second television in their home. It will give access to video and music streaming services and ability to play hundreds of PlayStation titles through PlayStation now as well as most Vita titles, PlayStation 1 and PlayStation Portable classics.

It will arrive in the US and Canada this year for $99.
However there will also be a bundle for $139 that will include a

• Dual Shock 3 controller
• 8 Gb Memory Card
• HDMI Cable
• Digital voucher for The Lego Movie Video Game

No Man's Sky Announced - E3 2014 (Sony)

The PlayStation E3 conference also held the debut of No Man’s Sky (from Hello Games) for PlayStation 4. A science fiction game with an infinite universe. A game where every player starts on a different planet to explore, then expand on to the universe to reach other players locations. A game where “every planet [is] unique, [and] every planet unexplored”.

The demo shown showcased the bright colors, animals, spaceships, the ability to fly a spaceship, shooting, and the transition from land to space.

ABZÛ Announced - E3 2014 (Sony)

The Sony E3 Conference announced Giant Squid’s first game ABZÛ. From the creators of Journey, ABZÛ is an underwater artistic game that relies on visuals rather than voice.

Let It Die Announced - E3 2014 (Sony)

Devolver Digital New Games Coming to PS4 - E3 2014 (Sony)

Sony announced what is to come to PlayStation 4 in the coming year, because of their newfound partnership with Devolver Digital Games. Which includes new titles exclusively on PlayStation platforms.

Grim Fandago is being Remastered - E3 2014 (Sony)

The Sony E3 Conference also revealed that the popular game from Tim Schafer, Grim Fandango is being remastered exclusively to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

This was done through a skit which a letter from a ‘child’ was sent asking for remakes of popular Tim Schafer games… of course, only to find out that it is Tim Schafer

Magicka 2 - E3 2014 (Sony)

Sony, during the E3 Conference, announced their partnership with Paradox Interactive about the PlayStation 4 (console) exclusive game Magicka 2.

Magicka 2 - “learn to spell again!”

Magicka 2 being the sequel to the game Magicka will be released on PC and the PlayStation 4. Continue playing with up to 4 player co-op, now with new co-op gameplay features.

Battlefield Hardline & PS4 - E3 2014 (Sony)

Earlier in E3, EA discussed their next game Battlefield Hardline, the cops and crooks game, and during the Sony conference, they spoke about their partnership with them.

Dead Island 2 Announced - E3 2014 (Sony)

The PlayStation E3 Conference also announced the next Deep Silver Game. Dead Island 2.

A cinematic trailer was shown that, of course, featured zombies and the crazy action that it will hold. Only now it will take place in the “Golden State” California.

It will have a 30 Day Exclusive Beta, and an exclusive Character Pack and Level only on PlayStation 4

Far Cry 4 Gameplay - E3 2014 (Sony)

The Sony E3 conference also showed the world gameplay premier of Far Cry 4.

Where players will visit the fictional place of Kyrat (Altitude: 12,139 feet or 3700 meters)

The mission to locate Ratu Gadhi, a stronghold.

We see the vast mountainous ranges that hold deadly cliffs. We view many of the returning aspects; Guns (semi-automatic pistols), weapons (now with crossbows), explosives (c4) and many more. Along with animals that can be used to your advantage. We also see the new wingsuit and grapple addition, with the ability to grapple to swing across a ledge or grapple to climb up a mountain (though it may be only set places). The character than comes across a convoy with the option to destroy. One of the new editions we saw, was the ability to save yourself by wingsuiting when faced with falling down a cliff

In the same gameplay mission, they reach Ratu Gadhi. To continue the mission, a new addition to the Far Cry series is for a second player to join.

The second player joins (named Hurk) and is able to carry player 1 into the stronghold via a helicopter, and continue to fight with you. The mission ended with the fortress liberated.

Perhaps one of the biggest additions to it, is that with the purchase of Far Cry 4 on PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4, players can now invite their friends to join them, even if they don’t own the game

Far Cry 4 is were “every second is a story”

The game is set for November 18, 2014 on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Bloodborne Announced - E3 2014 (Sony)

The PS4 E3 Conference saw to the announcement of a new IP, Bloodborne. An action RPG from Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Developed by FromSoftware, a trailer was shown that detailed the atmosphere that it will entail, and the monsters that will be faced.

Little Big Planet 3 Announced - E3 2014 (Sony)

The E3 Sony conference also saw the announcement of Little Big Planet 3, with a live gameplay demo; that was greeted with a huge applause.

With it coming to the PlayStation 4, it will have increased graphics, which will have more depth than ever before.

There will be new power ups, and devices. Such as the ‘pumpinator’, which blows air to move obstacles that stand in your way.

Little Big Planet 3, will also see the addition of many new friends.

• A character named Oddsock who has the ability to jump and is much faster than Sackboy
• A character named Toggle who is the biggest and strongest; however, he also has the ability to shrink down to get into harder to reach places
• A character named Swoop, who has the ability to fly to reach new places, and carry other characters.

Continuing with the series, it will continue to have the ability to create and share maps

Infamous DLC: Infamous First Light - E3 2014 (Sony)

Infamous Second Son DLC was announced during the Sony E3 Event. Titled Infamous First Light, it will be a stand-alone DLC. Meaning you can download it, even if you don’t own Second Son. However, if you do, players will receive some extra content.

It will follow the backstory of Abigail “Fetch” Walker, a character encountered in Infamous Second Son

Infamous First Light will arrive August 2014, but is available for pre-order via the PlayStation Store.

Entwined announcement - E3 2014 (Sony)

The Sony E3 event also showed the premiere of a new game. Titled Entwined, from developer Pixelopus, it is their first game.

A game of simple shapes that tells the story of “two souls who are in love but can’t be together”, where the player will control two characters at one using the analog sticks.

It is available to download for the PlayStation 4 for $9.99, with PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita coming soon

The Order 1886 Gameplay Trailer - E3 2014 (Sony)

The Sony E3 conference also showed a trailer for The Order 1886, an exclusive title for the PlayStation 4. Which allowed us our first look at the game style and gameplay.

The trailer showed the main character walking in a dark building using a lantern to light his way. He soon encounters an enemy who he must fight. We view the seamlessly transition between cinematics and gameplay
