PlayStation Sells 7 Million Units, & Update 1.7 Coming

Sony PlayStation has just announced that the PlayStation 4 system has just sold 7 million units as of  April 6, 2014.

The news comes from an official press release...
"TOKYO, April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced that the PlayStation®4 (PS4™) computer entertainment system has cumulatively sold through more than 7.0 million units*1 globally as of April 6, 2014(JST), demonstrating the rapid growth of the PS4 platform."

Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. just announced that PS4 has cumulatively sold through more than 7.0 million units globally as of April 6th, 2014. PS4 software sales are another bright spot, with more than 20.5 million copies sold at retail and PlayStation Store worldwide as of April 13th, 2014.

In the post, a tease of an important announcement was coming, which has now been revealed as SHAREfactory. A new and improved sharing system.
"With SHAREfactory, you can now easily combine your captured video clips for editing, personalize them with special effects using filters, transitions, and themes, as well as share them with your friends and social networks."
...you can easily share your SHAREfactory videos to Facebook, or export them to an external USB storage device to upload them elsewhere..."

Along with the update, they will also expand on their 'Play as you download', by introducing pre-purchasing. the ability to by and download a game and play it immediately on release day.
"The 1.70 update adds features to build on this idea and make it faster to play the games you pre-order with an auto pre-download capability, which allows you to pre-download your select pre-ordered game up to several days prior to release."

This news is very good to Sony as it further shows the success of the system since its launch last November. But for now, the future can hold great things.
